Consultation has concluded

Council is preparing to renew the playground at Meldrum Park.

Meldrum Park is a popular and picturesque park with large mature Norfolk pine trees located on the bank of North Creek. Facilities include public toilets, barbeques, picnic shelters, drinking fountain and access to Ballina's foreshore and coastal path network.

Have Your Say

Council resolved in 2023 that further community consultation be undertaken to allow community members to provide input into the design process for the Meldrum Park playground.

We are seeking the community's feedback on the type of playground and equipment inclusions you would like considered for this project. Your feedback will help inform Council's design.

The design for the new playground must be able to integrate with the existing features and constraints of the site. The playground will be a local playground renewal with typical levels of embellishment as outlined below.

Local playground

  • Typically located on smaller open space reserves within residential areas;
  • servicing a 500m catchment;
  • include 1-2 items of play equipment;
  • rely on natural shade where possible;
  • have minimal supporting infrastructure; and
  • cost $50,000 - $150,000* to construct the playground.

* Note: The indicative costs are for supply and install of the playground equipment with impact attenuation surfacing (soft fall) and shade only. Any ancillary infrastructure and additional landscaping will cost additional.

Have your say by providing comments and completing the survey using the tab below.

This replacement was identified as part of Council's Delivery Program and Operational Plan in accordance with the processes and procedures outlined in the Playground Upgrade and Management Plan 2022.
