Private Structures on Public Land and Roads Policy

At its August 2026 Ordinary meeting, Council resolved to adopt the updated Private Structures on Public Land and Roads Policy.

The objectives of this policy are to ensure:

• Public safety and amenity is not impacted upon by unauthorised structures on public land or roads
• Public land is retained and available for passive and active recreation for the public
• Roads are retained and available for public access
• Public land is protected from damage resulting from the use of the public land for activities other than passive or active recreation
• Access to public land is unobstructed

Public land is used in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993, the Crown Land Management Act 2016 and the Roads Act 1993.

The draft policy will be publicly exhibited for 28 days.
