Ballina CBD Parking Study
Consultation concluded 17 November 2023
Council provides timed on-street parking in the Ballina CBD to optimise customer turnover that supports local businesses.
Current time restrictions are based on parking data from 2005. Due to increased parking demands and business changes, an updated parking study was conducted in November 2022.

This new study provides details of parking inventory, parking occupancy, duration of stay, compliance with time limits and recommended changes to parking management.
The 2022/23 parking study recommends timed parking changes in the Ballina CBD. (See pages 14-16 of the study)
The study also recommends:
- Use of inground parking sensors to increase efficiency of Council rangers' patrols. (See page 17 of the study)
- Line marking of parking bays in unmarked sections of River Street and Tamar Street. (See page 17 of the study)
Council is seeking feedback from business owners, employees, motorists and residents on these recommendations.
Following public exhibition Council will consider community feedback and report the findings to a future Council Meeting.
Submissions close Friday 17 November 2023.
