Proposed Lease - Tennis Court Complex at Fitzroy Park, Wardell
Ballina Shire Council is proposing to enter into a lease agreement for occupation of part of the land known as Fitzroy Park, Wardell which is on land classified under the Local Government Act 1993 (‘the Act’) as ‘community’ land.
The details are as follows:
Tenant: Wardell and District Tennis Club Incorporated Y0206705.
Location: Part of Fitzroy Park, Wardell, being the tennis court complex on part of 32 Bridge Drive, Wardell (part of Lot 18 DP 1129974).
Purpose: Sports amenities building and two synthetic multi-sport courts.
Term of Lease: Two (2) year lease.
The tenant is proposing to use the premises for a variety of sports, including for example, tennis, basketball, walking basketball, volleyball and futsal.
Under Council’s resolution at the Ordinary Council meeting on 26 October 2023, the proposed lease is to include clauses that:
1. provide for non-competition tennis on Tuesday evenings from 6-10pm on both courts, with bookings to be confirmed one week in advance; and
2. key be left at one of the two businesses at Wardell for community access until the key pads are installed.
As the land is classified as Community Land, in accordance with the provisions of Local Government Act, interested persons are invited to make a submission in writing with respect to the granting of the lease.
Where a submission is an objection, the grounds of objection must be specified. All submissions, including any personal information, will become publicly available and will be made available to the applicant and interested members of the public. Submissions may be included in Council's business paper and provided to the Minister for Local Government.
