Ballina Council resolved at its August 28 meeting to progress a planning proposal for the rezoning of land at 305 The Coast Road, Skennars Head. The rezoning relates to areas of land that are currently identified as ‘Deferred Matter’ and have a historic zoning of 7(f) Environmental Protection (Coastal Lands) and 7(d) Environmental Protection (Scenic / Escarpment). The proposed zoning and applicable areas are mapped within the planning proposal and are described below:

Consequential amendments to minimum lot size and height building controls are also proposed.

Council is now seeking feedback on the proposal.

Persons making a submission may need to disclose political donations/gifts provided to a Councillor or Council employee. Significant penalties apply for non-disclosure. Any person may make a submission in writing to Council. Where a submission is by way of objection the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. All submissions, including any personal information contained therein, will become publicly available documents and will be made available to the applicant and any other interested members of the public. They may also be included in Council’s business paper. If you do not wish your submission to be publicly available you must provide Council with written reasons for this. Alternatively, you may wish to provide an anonymous submission. However, anonymous submissions may be given less (or no) weight in the overall consideration of the proposal.

The planning proposal and a report of submissions received will be reported back to Council prior to finalisation of any LEP amendments. Council has not been designated as the Local Plan making Authority.
