At its November 2025 Ordinary meeting, Council resolved to adopt the updated Urban Vegetation on Public Land Policy.

This policy aims to proactively identify opportunities to prioritise the maintenance and protection of existing vegetation and to plant suitable trees in the urban environment to increase canopy cover across the local government area of Ballina Shire.

The draft policy will be publicly exhibited for 28 days.
